We Bought a Company.

In late 2021 we purchased a company called West Park Creative.

It was scary because, truth be told, we were doing an alright amount of business but we were moving to a larger location (read costs more) and we were buying this company (read costs more) and we were a bit nervous if we were going to make all of our monthly payments.

The company is called West Park Creative and it was started by a very talented artist named Bill Bubenik. The company is known for it’s “sweetly offensive” letterpress greeting cards and pins but we mainly wanted it for the machines. Ahhhh, the machines! The absolutely stunning letterpress and foil machines that make most creative people drool a full sized puddle when they see them. I mean, these are 75 year old pieces of art and, when they came up for sale, we had to have them.

Why? Well, simply put, it will allow us to create high end embossed and/or foiled labels for high end hooch. That’s wine, bourbon, vodka, etc. We design a lot of beer cans around here and we are ready for the next step and we believe that is the creation (printing) of the actual labels.

This shouldn’t be a shock as we already screen print thousands and thousands of shirts a year but this type of pressing is, well, different.

We were expecting the printing but what we weren’t expecting was the popularity of the cards and ephemera. We knew Bill’s stuff was popular but we had no idea how much of it he moved. So, do we do away with it or keep it? That is the big question and, for now, we are going to keep it moving. We are going to continue selling letterpress greeting cards and cute enamel pins and see how big we can blow this side of the company up.

If you’d like to check out some of the goods you can do so at Third Wheel Brewing on May 7th from Noon to 5pm at their hand made market or you can check it out online at Westpark-Creative.com.
